Indonesian film titled Gundala: This Country Needs Patriot made by Joko Anwar will release in Indonesian theatres tomorrow, Thursday (29/08/2019). Gundala: This Country Needs Patriot is a film adaptation of the comic “Gundala Putra Lightning” by Harya Suraminata.
In the comic version, the figure behind Gundala is Sancaka, a genius researcher who is looking for anti-lightning serum. Ambitious Sancaka dissolves in all forms of experimentation. The bustle made him forget the birthday of his girlfriend, Minarti.
That also makes the relationship between the two ends. After a broken heart, Sancaka ran into the rain and was unlucky he struck by lightning. The lightning strike made him unconscious. In a coma, he was forced withdrawn from another planet and adopted by the Lord of the Lightning Kingdom, Emperor Kronz, blessed with superhuman strength that could emit thunder from his palm. Also, the Typhoon king of the Bayu Kingdom gave him the power to run as fast as the wind. Since then, Sancaka appeared as a hero who defeated crime in many places with tight black costumes and red loincloths.
His face covered with a mask, only visible eyes and mouth, with the side of the mask, contained decorations like bird wings. In this film, there are several adjustments to the story, one of which is Sancaka, who is a security officer. Besides Sancaka, played by Abimana Aryasatya, the film will also be directed by Bront Palarae, Muzakki Ramdhan, Tara Basro, Lukman Sardi, and Ario Bayu.
